Most people feel their life is missing something. They feel less than they could be. There is a reason for this general unhappiness. The good news is you can change it.
Coyote Dreaming shows how civilization is out of balance and a fundamental change of mind is necessary to allow many, for the time, to understand psychological and emotional discomforts with which they suffer because they cannot fit into the hole society created for them.
Coyote Dreaming is an intimate and sometimes startling account of Steve Peek’s spiritual journey and mystical dreams that changed his life forever. The author’s fascinating memoir takes readers into the realm of Jung’s collective unconscious without psycho-babble. It is a compelling narrative that immerses you into the powerful world of dreams that provides answers to inner struggles and the search for meaning.
The book includes a lab manual with a step-by-step method for tapping into the universal data base for the answers you need.
Dreams provide your truths and accurate, unlimited guidance.
The knowledge in dreams is limitless, abundant, and strangely accommodating. Everything we need is in our dreams.
All we have to do is ask and listen.
Coyote Dreaming Find Yourself While You Sleep edition by Steve Peek Religion Spirituality eBooks
On a ten point scale, I would rate this book a seven. But since a five point rating is required, I feel I must bump it up a tad rather than down. I think it's a valuable addition to my library. The beginning parts of the book (and the ending text) is in a relaxed free-flowing style I find appealing. Sandwiched between these is a long manual--a sort of introduction to the Mayan Calendar, sacred geometry and the angels of the zodiac. This may appeal more to those inclined towards New Age practices, but it wasn't what I was expecting.Even so, the material is well-written and I met some new ideas in the "manual"section. I would like to have seen the instructions for how to get in closer touch with my dreamworld translated into contemporary models of reality instead (though I recognize those are no more "true" than the ancient models). This is maybe nothing more than a personal peeve of mine. I'm familiar with many attempts to teach Buddhist meditation in the context of ancient and complex psychology (and cosmology) that in themselves require a lifetime of study to understand.
One further quibble: the research underlying the book is a bit out of date on a couple of minor points. Recent research has shown that dreams may occur in all stages of sleep, not just REM. And REM is not the deepest stage of sleep. In fact the brain wave in REM sleep is much the same as that of waking consciousness. Maybe that is why recall of dreams occurring in that state seem to be the most vivid ones and the ones easiest to remember.
In buying this book, I was looking for some fresh simple suggestions about how to improve dream recall. There were many simple suggestions (keep a dream journal, jot down memories as soon as you awaken, try to awaken gently and don't be too quick to jump out of bed and into daily routines, just to name a few). But nothing I hadn't heard before. Yet hearing them again in the context of the author's own fascinating dreams was worthwhile. Sometimes we need to be inspired as much as to be informed.

Coyote Dreaming Find Yourself While You Sleep edition by Steve Peek Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
Coyote Dreaming reads like an unfolding dream. There are shades of Castaneda woven throughout, but instead of Don Juan, Steve Peek's Don Juan is a coyote, the greatest of all tricksters. Peek writes with grace and finesse, particularly when he describes his early encounters with Coyote. The scenes that take place outside a Best Western at night, when he first runs with Coyote, and another sequence when Peek is knocked unconscious by an electrical shock and is trapped in a very weird dream town, are surreal, strange, and beautifully written. High recommended, especially for anyone interested in dreams states and where they may take us.
I'm not sure if this is indeed only one man's story of discovery or a guide as he claims for others. It will take a second look if I find the will to reread it. Seems he was tortured to write it and I'm not sure he would not have been happier staying in the toy industry.
I don't generally write reviews, but I strongly felt it was in order for Coyote Dreaming by Steve Peek. I was quite moved by this book and the message it conveyed. The author shares the personal, sometimes painful details of his journey to self discovery in a way that makes the reader feel encouraged and empowered to do the same. I was captivated while learning about the revelations of dreams, and gaining knowledge about their roots and history.
Reading about the author's Coyote Dreams, I often gave pause as lightbulb after lightbulb turned on in my head. Suddenly, some of my own buried dreams started to resurface...except this time, I had a whole new perspective and they held a different realm of possibilities.
Mr. Peek goes further by offering comprehensive instructions for a 21-day Coyote Stones program, in which he helps the reader fully understand their dream system and tap into their own "Journey of 21 Dreams".
The book is fascinating, and it is one of the few that I felt compelled to start reading again from the beginning as soon as I finished it. The hard copy will definitely be on my list of gifts to give to friends this holiday season.
First of all this is a great mufti-cultural view of Dreaming and its significance. Secondly, it clearly defines why Dreaming is an essential skill for anyone seeking to improve their life. This especially resonates with all spiritual paths. Finally it sets forth a method for improving your dreaming skills. The method is practical and functional. Although it lays out a step by step process, it proceeds that with a foundation and many techniques to improve your Dreaming ability and clarity. The step by step process is an introduction, inciting the reader to develop what works for them.
Along the way the author also tells the fascinating story of his life and how he came from a western business world and was called to begin a dreaming practice. In this manner he describes how learning Dreaming practices changed his life path and brought him from a stressed world view to a peaceful and growing life. These practices are therefore very much needed by all and even an advanced student of Dreaming will likely enjoy and gain from this book.
