This is an ebook conversion from a physical book written in 1878. So it's information that is 140 years old. But it does present a spotlight on mammoth/mastodon knowledge of that time. However, this conversion is spectacularly poor. It looks like it has been run through the OCR process with absolutely no editing, just the raw output. So reading the ebook manuscript is a bit of a mental organizing challenge. In addition it is missing the original engravings and pictures. Cleaner versions are available through other sources. While this is indeed a very old book, many of the elements within are just as valid now as they were then, and it provides a splendid 'snapshot' of its time period. How true do you find the following statement is today?
